- Service: Built as fleet Collier No.3, later AC-3, Jupiter. Conversion to aircraft carrier authorized in 1919 and carried out at Norfolk Navy Yard starting in Mar 1920. Commissioned as CV-1 Langley in 1922. Converted to seaplane tender 1936-37, with forward deck cut down. Recommissioned as AV-3 Langley in 1937. Hit and sunk by Japanese high-level bombers 27 Feb 1942 south of Chilachap while attempting to deliver 32 P-40s for the Java defences.
