- Notes: Built as trawler M/V Holy Cross for F. J. O'Hara & Sons of Boston, MA. Acquired by Navy in 1940 for conversion to minesweeper AM-75 at Bethlehem Steel Co, East Boston, MA. Commissioned as USS Kite. Training at the mine warfare school Yorktown, VA and operations out of Norfolk before sailing for Argentia, Newfoundland in Aug 1941. Sweeping Newfoundland waters to May 1944 before returning to Massachusetts for decommissioning at Quincy. Transfer to War Shipping Administration 2 Mar 1945 and sold.
