Torpedoed off Hawaii 11 Jan 42; Guadalcanal; her aircraft sank Japanese carrier Ryujo in Battle of Eatern Solomons 24-25 Aug 42; Torpedoed by I-26 in Solomons 31 Aug 42; Bougainville; Gilbert Is.; Kwajalein; Eniwetok; Iwo Jima (severly damaged by Kamikaze 21 Feb 45); Pacific raids 1944; British Eastern Fleet 1944. Used as a target in Bikini A-bomb tests and sank one day after the underwater Baker shot. Earned seven battle stars for her WWII service.
