While under refit, she was badly damaged by German bombs while in drydock at Glasgow 18 Sep 1940, burned out and sunk. Salvaged and rebuilt Oct 1940-Aug 1942 to configuration shown here. 1st CS Home Fleet, Sep 1942-Jan 1943. 4th CS Eastern Fleet, Mar 1943-May 1944.
