Battle of Cape Engano, 25 Oct 1944. Japanese aircraft carrier Chiyoda was crippled by aircraft from carriers USS Lexington and USS Franklin. Attempts by cruiser Isuzu to remove the crew was frustrated and Chiyoda was finished off by gunfire from American cruisers and destroyers, including USS New Orleans and USS Wichita. No srvivors were permitted to be rescued.
