- Notes: The Skipjack class were the first submarines to combine nuclear propulsion with the high-speed tear-drop hull. They were the fastest US submarines until the Los Angeles class. Sister Scorpion was lost with all 99 men on board in May 1968 some 400 miles SW of the Azores.
