- Notes:Samuel B. Roberts, third US Navy vessel of that name, was one of the final ships in the Oliver Hazard Perry-class of guided missile frigates (FFG). She was severely damaged in the Persian Gulg during the Iran-Iraq War by an Iranian mine, 14 Apr 1988, leading U.S. forces to respond with Operation Praying Mantis four days later. Her keel was broken, but the crew was able to stabilize her and maneuver out of the minefield with the auxiliary thrusters. Loaded onto the semi-submersible heavy lift ship Mighty Servant 2 in June and transported back to BIW in Portland, Maine. Repaired by Apr 1989 and returned to duty, the ship served until decommissioned in 2015.
