When the Shah was deposed in 1979, they were under construction. The US Navy sought to acquire them and got authorization in the FY1979 supplemental budget, officially taking them over 24 Jul 1979. After decommissioning, all four were transferred to Taiwan 30 May 2003; the former Callaghan was commissioned as RCS Su-Ao 19 Dec 2005.
