- Notes: Built as Escort Aircraft Carrier USS Gilbert Islands, CVE-107. Participated in Okinawa campaign May-Jun 1945 and supported Australian landings at Balikpapan, Borneo Jul 1945, earning three battle stars for WWII service. Decommissioned postwar, she was briefly reactivated during the Korean War. Redesignated Cargo Ship and Aircraft Ferry AKV-39 while in reserve, 7 May 1959. Struck from the Navy Register Jun 1961. Reinstated and converted to Major Communications Relay Ship at Brooklyn Navy Yard; redesignated AGMR-1 on 1 Jun 1963 and renamed Annapolis on 22 Jun 1963. Served off Vietnam 1965-1968, earning seven more campaign stars.
