- Notes; Lübeck was the last of her class to be built, and the last to decommission. The Bremen class was a modification of the Netherlands Kortenaer class with a different propulsion system and hangar layout. During the Cold War period, the main war task for these ships was to escort convoys for reinforcement and resupply of allied forces in Europe in the Northern Atlantic. They frequently took part in NATO Standing Naval Forces and served in additional supporting missions such as the embargo operations against former Yugoslavia in the Adriatic Sea, Operation Enduring Freedom against international terrorism, and anti-piracy patrols off the Horn of Africa.
