- Notes: Lead ship of her class and first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine of the French Navy. When commissioned, these six submarines constituted the strategic part of the naval component of the French nuclear triad, then called Force de frappe. All six have been decommissioned and replaced by the Le Triomphant class. Le Redoutable was stricken in 1991 and has been preserved as a museum ship at the Cité de la Mer naval museum in Cherbourg-Octeville, France. Other members of the class were stricken over the period 1996-2008.
