- Notes: Operated out of Norfolk, VA, engaged in training, patrol, and escort of East Coast convoys to late 1942, ranging as far north as Halifax, as far south as the Panama Canal, and out to Bermuda. Sailed to North Africa for Operation Torch, staying in African waters until Feb 1943. Returned to East Coast and Caribbean operations until Apr 1944 when she headed to England for the Normandy invasion. Swept approaches to Utah Beach from D-Day to Aug 1944, when she headed to the Mediterranean for the invasion of Southern France. During her European operations she was credited with sweeping 21 German and Italian naval mines. Returned to Norfolk in Jun 1945, then transferred to the Pacific, eventually decommissioning at San Diego, going into reserve. Reclassified MSF-55 on 7 Feb 1955, but not reactivated. Sunk as target off southern California in 1967. Earned three battle stars for her WWII service.
Sister USS Osprey (AM-56) was lost to a mine in the Normandy approaches, 5 Jun 1944.
