- Actions: Omaha served on S. Atlantic anti-raider and blockade runner patrols with CruDiv 2, TF3. Captured blockade runner Odenwald off Brazilian coast 6 Nov 1942. Based at Recife with TF 41, in company with destroyer Jouett, she caught and sank blockade runner Rio Grande 4 Jan 1944 and then helped force the scuttling of Burgenland the next day. Transferred to the Mediterranean to support the invasion of S. France in Aug 1944 with TF 86. Returned to the S. Atlantic for the remainder of the war.
