- Service: Originally built with reciprocating machinery, cage masts, secondary battery of 21-5"/51 guns. Rebuilt 1927-29 with turbines, tripod masts, added torpedo bulges and rearranged secondary and AA batteries, completely altering appearance to configuration shown here. Shown here in Measure 1 Dark Grey System camouflage. Sunk in Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, 7 Dec 1941, when she was struck by five torpedoes in quick succession and capsized. Righted and floated in major salvage effort to clear harbor in 1943, but not deemed worth repair, she remained hulked at Pearl Harbor until sold for scrap in 1946. She foundered while under tow to the West Coast in May 1947.
