Supported landings at Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Palau, Mindoro, Lingayen, and Okinawa. Received seven battle stars for World War II service. Transferred to Maritime Commission for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet in 1947. Reacquired by the Navy 20 March 1950; placed in service as USNS Pecos (T-AO-65) 18 July 1950. Stricken 1 Oct 1974.
