- Notes: Flat-bottomed pontoon barge constructed from U.S. Navy lighter pontoons to transport vehicles and supplies from moored vessels to the beach. Able to completely unload an LST in two trips. Thirty-six were assembled by the Seabees in Britain for the Normandy invasion, with twenty planned for Omaha and eleven for Utah. After LSTs began beaching, the Rhinos were used to unload Liberty ships and coasters.
