- Service: Attached to the Northern Force in Dec 1941 operating with sister Kiso as the 21st Cruiser Squadron. Part of the Kiska attack force in May 1942. Fought in the Battle of the Komandorski Islands in Mar 1943 and assisted in the evacuation of the Aleutian Islands in Jul 1943. Afterwards sent to the southwest Pacific. Damaged by carrier aircraft on 25 Oct 1944 during the Battle for Leyte Gulf and sunk the same day by torpedoes from submarine Jallao northeast of Cape Engano.
