- Service: Laid down as naval oiler Hiryu, but ordered converted to aircraft carrier in 1920. Completed with small island and tripod mast to starboard, they were removed in 1923. Originally carried four 5.5in guns and two 3in AA guns; replaced by 25mm AA in 1941-2. Flight deck lengthened in 1944 to 579 ft. Used primarily for training during WW2. Served as a repatriation transport postwar, then broken up in 1947.
