Force 'K', South Atlantic Jan-Feb 1941. 1st CS Home Fleet Mar 1941-Jul 1942. With HMS Suffolk shadowed German battleship Bismarck 23-25 May 1941, including Battle of the Denmark Strait when HMS Hood was sunk. 18th CS Home Fleet, Aug-Sep 1942. 1st CS Home Fleet Oct 1942-Jul 1945. At sinking of German battlecruiser Scharnhorst in Battle of North Cape, 26 Dec 1943, being hit by one 11in shell; refit and repairs Feb-Oct 1944. 5th CS East Indies Command Aug 1945-Mar 1946. Scrapped at Newport from Feb 1950.
