- Service: 5th Battle Squadron at Jutland 1916; no damage. Reconstructed 1937-39. Home fleet 1940, Mediterranean fleet 1941-42. In action at the Battle of Cape Matapan 27-29 Mar 1941 and bombardment of Tripoli 21 Apr. Struck by two bombs off Crete in May. Damaged by limpet mine at Alexandria 18-19 Dec 1941 placed by Italian frogmen from submarine Scire. Repaired at Durban; joined Eastern fleet Aug 1942. Force 'H' 1943; supported landings in Sicily in Jul and at Salerno in Sep. Eastern fleet 1944; on 8 Aug 1944 the inner screws and one rudder were severely damaged in an accident when the floating drydock at Trincomalee collapsed while attempting to raise her. Returned with difficulty via Suez to Britain and decommissioned in Jul 1945. Scrapped 1948.
