- Notes: After WW1, the Bretagne class had tripod foremasts and directors fitted. Converted to partial oil-burning in 1927-30 and full oil burning in 1932-35. Improved armor and AA weapons also added.
- Service: Bretagne and sister Provence were both present at Mers-el-Kebir on 3 Jul 1940 when a British ultimatum was refused and Adm Somerville of Force "H" fired on the French ships. Bretagne blew up and capsized; Provence was badly damaged and beached in the harbor.
