- Notes: One of a class of six "peace cruisers" featuring endurance over armament and protection. Hull was sheathed with pine and coppered for long service in tropical waters. Construction problems caused her to be towed to Norfolk for completion at the Navy Yard. Initial armament 10-5"/50, 8-6pdr; reduced in 1918.
- Service: Jun - Dec 1905 in the Atlantic and Caribbean. Jan 1906 via Suez to the Asiatic Squadron until Feb 1910, then shifted to Pacific coast and Alaska. Sep 1913 - Dec 1917 on the Asiatic Station, including Yangtze River Patrol. Feb - Nov 1918 in the Atlantic for convoy duties. Mar 1919 - Jul 1920 Europe, including Murmansk and Constantinople. Reclassified to gunboat PG-31 in 1920, then to CL-19 in 1921. Special Service Squadron in Central America Feb 1924 - May 1930. Stricken Nov 1930.
