- Notes: Laid down as an enlarged version of Devastation, her construction was suspended in 1871 pending a redesign with improved protection, armament, and stability. Improved machinery gave her an extra knot of speed. In 1884 10 MGs were added, then replaced in 1894 by 6-6pdr QFs and 10-3pdr QFs. Reboilered and funnels raised in 1898. Front line service to 1894, after which she served as a coastguard vessel. Reclassified as a second class battleship in 1900, reduced to harbor service in 1902, and placed in reserve in 1905.
