Service: Zolty Lew ("Yellow Lion") was the first and smallest ship of the Polish fleet created by King Sigismund III Waza to take part in the war with Sweden ; it was also called "old pink" as opposed to newer ships of this class. Part of the first Polish naval squadron, which took part in the victorious battle with the Swedish squadron at Oliwa 28 Nov 1627 under Captain Hans Kizero. The ship did not play a great role in the battle only participating in an unsuccessful attempt to chase after the retreating Swedes.
Sent on cruise against the Dutch in Dec 1627, Zolty Lew captured one ship which was incorporated into the Polish fleet as Feniks. During an attack by the Swedish army on Polish ships at the mouth of the Vistula the Zolty Lew was struck by an incendiary shell in the powder magazine, 6 Jul 1628, destroying the ship.
