Adler von Lübeck
1566
(Johann Wolkersdorfer JW 45)
- Class: Galleon
- Displacement: 2,000 tons
- Dimensions: 210 x 50 ft.
- Armament:
- Complement: 672
- Built: S. Franke, Lübeck
- Launched: 1566
- Service: Built by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck to protect her Baltic trade against Sweden. She carried a very heavy armament for the time, but she was too flexible and always leaky. Her high superstructure made her prone to leaning in the wind. She never saw combat, and in 1574 she was overhauled and reduced in size. Used as a trading vessel to Lisbon, where she was wrecked in 1581.
