- Notes: The "Loyal Convert" is one of the Americans gondolas captured in 1775 on Lake George (ex-Hancock or ex-Schuyler). The gondola is a boat / ship type developed by H. Schuyler. Typical of this type of ship is that both bow and stern taper, and thus vaguely resemble a gondola. Thus, the initially somewhat spotty term gondolow / gondola has established itself as a type name. In the course of the campaign, the Loyal Convert was taken on Lake Champlain, disassembled and brought overland, to the yard at St. Jean. She did not participate actively in the Battle of Valcour Island, 11 Oct 1776.
