- Notes: Much of the English invasion fleet of Gen. Guy Carleton on Lake Champlain consisted of approximately 24-28 small, agile gunboats, most of them built at the shipyard in St. Jean. The armament consisted of a cannon on the bow, whose caliber was between 6-pound to 24-pound, while two units with 5-inch and two with 8-inch mortars would have been present. About 20 of these units were the first to get into action at the Battle of Valcour Island, 11 Oct 1776, as they were able to reach to windward due to their agility.
