- Service: The Le Coureur was a lugger of the Marine Royale, built at Dunkerque in 1776. On 17 Jun 1778, in company with the frigate La Belle Poule she fought against the frigate HMS Arethusa and HM cutter Alert. After a two-hour battle, the Le Coureur, commanded by Enseigne de Vaisseau Chevalier de Rosily, was captured by Alert. She was taken into British service as the schooner Coureur. Captured again 21 Jun 1780 by two American privateers off Newfoundland.
