- Service: Built for British India Line (British flag) as a troopship, for service between Great Britain and her overseas possessions. The Ministry of Transport bore a share of the cost. Laid up at Falmouth in 1962 and then MOT terminated the 15-year trooping contract in 1963, handing her over to British India Line to use as they wished. Rebuilt 1964-65 by Silley, Cox & Co as an educational cruise ship, with accommodations for 307 passengers in cabins and 783 in dormitories. First scholars' cruise from Southampton in Oct 1965. Transferred to P & O in 1972. Scrapped on Taiwan, 1975.
