In the summer of 1936, Kind Edward VIII chartered her for a cruise in the Adriatic with Wallis Simpson aboard, attracting considerable media attention. Acquired by King Carol II of Romania in 1937. With the outbreak of WW2, the yacht was left on the peaceful backwaters of the Danube and survived largely unmodified. She operated as a floating restaraunt on the Danube until purchased in 1999 and returned to British waters for restoration at Glasgow.
