- Service: Built for P&O Lines (British flag). Designed by John West, interior by Sir Hugh Casson. Maiden voyage 2 Jun 1961 Southampton-Colombo-Melbourne-Sydney. Then placed on transpacific service. Cruising and round the world voyages from 1975. Requisitioned as trooper for Falklands conflict at Southampton, 5 Apr 1982. Entered San Carlos Water 21 May to disembark troops whilst under air attack; also used as hospital ship and prison ship for POWs, Returned to Britain 11 Jul. Sold 1991 to Abbey National Leasing and leased back. Ended final voyage at Southampton Sep 1997, then sent for scrapping at Gadani Beach, Pakistan.
