- Service: Key ship in the Operation Pedestal convoy of August 1942, sent to relieve siege of Malta. Ten out of 14 convoy ships were lost, and escorting naval vessels suffered heavy losses, inlcuding aircraft carrier HMS
Eagle and cruisers HMS Cairo and HMS Manchester. Damaged by both submarine and aircraft attacks, Ohio managed to creep into Valetta's Grand Harbor on 15 August with her decks awash. She was intentionally sunk at dockside so she would not break up while her cargo was unloaded. She remained at Valetta until 1946 when she was towed out to deep water and sunk.
