- Service: Built for the Nederland Line (Dutch flag). Launched 21 Dec 1929; completed 10 Sep 1930; maiden voyage 7 Oct Amsterdam-Dutch East Indies. Laid up at Surabaya 1939; converted to troop transport as shown here 1940. On 6 Nov 1943 while sailing in convoy in the Mediterranean she was torpedoed by German aircraft off the Algerian coast. The 3,000 troops on board were picked up by other ships; she sank the next day despite attempt to tow her to port.
