- Service: One of four sisters built for the Regia Azienda Monopolio Banane,
with four insulated, refrigerated holds for transporting bananas from Italian Somaliland
or Eritrea. Designed for conversion to auxiliary cruisers for raiding with 4-120mm guns
as armament. Ramb I made one unsuccessful foray into the Red Sea, then escaped
the British blockade of Perim on 20 Feb 1941 into the Indian Ocean. However she was
intercepted between the Maldives and Chagos and sunk by HMNZS Leander on 27 Feb.
