Taken out of service 30 May 1940, for layup at Venice. Converted to troopship for the North African run as shown here, commissioning 25 Jun 1941. Made ten trips Naples - Tripoli in three months. Sunk with sister ship Oceania by British submarine HMS Upholder off Libya, 18 Sep 1941. Total of 384 lost from both liners.
