- Service: Andes built for Royal Mail Lines (British flag), Southampton-east coast of South America service. Completed as a troop transport, late 1939. First voyage 9 Dec 1939 as transport to Halifax. In May 1945 she carried the Norwegian government in exile back to Oslo. Released from war service in 1947 and refitted for passenger service at Harland & Wolff. Entered South American service, 22 Jan 1948, Southampton-La Plata. Rebuilt as a cruise ship, by 'De Schelde' at Vlissingen, starting Nov 1959. First cruise after refit 10 Jan 1960. Scrapped in Belgium, 1971.
Up
