- Service: Built for Elder Dempster Lines. Liverpool. Their largest vessel at time of completion. Maiden voyage 16 Oct, Liverpool-Apapa (Lagos). On 27 Jun 1937 she collided with the Yewforest off Ushant. Torpedoed in the North Atlantic by German submarine U 575 on 29 Oct 1942. Five lifeboats got away, but in a heavy gale, only one boat was rescued with 31 survivors; 83 passengers and 168 crew were lost.
