- Service: First of four twin-screw liners built for Hamburg America Line (Hapag) Hamburg-Southampton-New York service. Originally laid down as Normania, but launched as Augusta Victoria, after Auguste Victoria, the wife of Emperor Wilhelm II. First voyage 10 May 1889. Rebuilt 1896-97 by Harland & Wolff; lengthed to 535 ft. and displacement increased to 8,479 tons. Name corrected to Auguste Victoria and resumed service 3 Jun 1897. Final voyage departed 16 Jan 1904. Sold to Russia in 1904 and renamed Kuban for use as auxiliary cruiser and troopship during the Russo-Japanese War. Scrapped at Stettin, 1907.
