Click on any ship L 53 Redoubt

On 11 Aug 1918 Redoubt towed a lighter with flying-off platform and Sopwith Camel into the North Sea. Flight Sub-Lt Stuart D. Culley took off and after a one-hour climb to 18,000 feet, successfully intercepted and shot down the German Zeppelin L.53. The aircraft then ditched next to the destroyer and was recovered; the aircraft is preserved on display in the Imperial War Museum.
